Types of Smooth Coats
There is a slight difference between a smooth and short coat, in that the smooth coat is going to be shorter in length and tighter to the body. This category includes but is not limited to:
- Chihuahuas
- Pitbulls
- Labs
- Frenchies
- Pugs
Shedding and Maintenance
If low maintenance is your thing, then this is the coat for you!
One drawback to this coat type is the shedding — expect a lot of it!
It’s most important to simply keep these dogs bathed. You can use a rubber or soft-bristled brush to knock some of their older hair loose from time to time. Be sure to also keep their nails trimmed.
