Veterinarian

Dr. Andy Stevens

Dr. Stevens is happy to be back to his roots in Dane County and caring for Madison area canines at City Dog Vet. And we are thrilled to have his friendly face and the wide spectrum of experience he has brought along.

A 2014 graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Stevens began his career practicing at a 24-hour emergency hospital in Littleton, Colorado where he discovered his passion for orthopedic surgery through a three-year mentorship. In addition to his time in practice, Dr. Stevens also helped develop a low-cost fracture repair program for underserved communities, which resulted in the completion of over 60 fracture repairs in the span of two years. Now that Dr. Stevens is back in his hometown of Madison, he has been performing orthopedic surgeries for over six years including extracapsular CCL repair, patella surgery, FHO, and Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgeries. He loves to help our City Dogs but also works closely with Madison-area referring veterinarians for the orthopedic surgery needs of their patients.

Dr. Stevens has been a long-term member of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. In addition to his wide spectrum of general and orthopedic surgeries, he loves building relationships with clients and taking time to discuss overall wellness, preventative care and management of chronic conditions.

She is excited to connect with City Dog parents and build relationships to help your dogs live long, healthy, happy lives. She also brings along exceptional abilities with basic and advanced soft tissue surgeries and orthopedic needs. Dentistry and oral health are a special interest for Dr. Roberts.

Dr. Roberts has served on the executive board of the Dane County Veterinary Medical Association in different roles for the last 15 years. She has also been a long standing member of both the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Veterinarian

Dr. Katarina Luther

Founder and co-owner of City Dog Vet, Dr. Katarina Luther, has been a Madison-area veterinarian for over 20 years. She completed her undergraduate and veterinary studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Following graduation, Dr. Luther practiced veterinary medicine with particular interests in the areas of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, critical care and internal medicine, and tailored preventative wellness. Since 2015, she has also kept busy as a practice owner, managing the Cat Care Clinic (both the west side Odana Road and downtown sister-clinic to City Dog Vet on East Washington) and City Dog Vet. She is passionate about providing exceptional care for pets, hence all three clinics have accomplished accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

Practice Manager and Lead Certified Veterinary Technician

Cathy

Shown here with her lovely senior girl “Maddie”, Cathy is our Practice Manager at City Dog Vet. She has many years of experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician, so still is very active overseeing our veterinary care and guiding our support team.
Certified Veterinary Technician

Gina

Gina is a certified veterinary technician and a devoted dog-person. She thrives on being in a dog-focused environment at City Dog Vet. You’ll see her often with and her best buddy, Grace (the loving, goofy, one-eyed Stafforshire Terrier) at her side.

Gina grew up in Clearwater, Florida but has lived in Wisconsin since 2006. She loves the snow!

Gina’s words of wisdom for dog parents: “Enjoy the time you have with them, it’s never long enough!” ❤️

Groomer

David

David trained as a groomer at the New York City School of Dog Grooming after which he worked at a New Jersey shop called the Hungry Puppy! His career took a change when he decided to take the very respectable leap to becoming a high school English teacher, which he did in Madison for the past 14 years. Fortunately for us and our City Dogs, his passion for working with pets and practicing the art of grooming has returned. He is now working alongside Michelle, polishing up his impressive cutting skills again and learning the special little things her grooming dogs and clients appreciate. Michelle will make her own life change and move to Colorado in July, sadly saying goodbye to the City Dogs she has grown to love.
Although David grew up in New Jersey and also lived in Atlanda, Maine, and Pittsburgh, he considers Madison his home now. He and his partner, Heather, love getting to the Farmer’s Marker every Saturday, birding at places like Cherokee Marsh, Holy Wisdom, and the Arboretum, and biking all over the city. He’s thrilled to be able to bike to work at City Dog now.
David and Heather have two City Dogs of their own. Roosevelt (Rosey) is an 8-years-old (really smart) goofball newfy/Bearded Collie mix (who may have a little scenthound in him) who they’ve had since a puppy. Agnes is a 2-years-old corgi-greyhound-or-whippet mix (possibly with some sighthound) who was rescued at 6-months and who worships Rosey!

Fun facts straight from David:

Hobbies: I enjoy birding, photography, reading, writing (I used to write part-time for Bleacher Report and SBNation mostly about Big Ten football with a focus on the Iowa Hawkeyes), biking, working out, watching either really trashy movies or really artsy movies and I collect orchids.

Interesting facts: If I could only watch one movie for the rest of my life that movie would be The Good, the Bad and the Ugly; if I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life that song would be "Wasted Years" by Iron Maiden.

Welcome David!
